I'm going to have to keep an eye on this... I love the concept, depending on how it decides which color to be shining.

PC Gamer just reviewed it in their latest issue and wasn't too impressed, they gave it a 24%.   Part of the problem is that it works with so few games, and apparently the lights wait way too long before changing color.  The only mention of the fans is that they "emit a loud wheezy puff of air in your face"

The last line of the review: "But, as it stands, the most prominent feature amBX has brought to my gaming experience is regret"

Cool idea, but still a long way off from being something I would buy...especially not for the pricetag of $199-399 (depending on which peripherals you get)

Based on the pictures I think it looks really terrible.  Phillips' implementation of something kind of like this on some of their plasma and LCD displays, though, looks awesome.

I'm not a big fan of the ambilight on the philips plasmas...I find it a bit too distracting.  I think having a reference white backlight can be useful, and the philips ambilight can do that as well, but it's too bright.

If you're thinking about spending any money on them, wait around until woot.com runs a deal.  They don't show up very often, but they're dirt cheap.

Still probably a bad investment, though.

Yeah I think they were $40 or $50 on woot.com a few months ago.  I was close to buying them, but I don't really need another set of PC speakers.  I think they would be cool in the dark while listening to music on the PC.

Ah well, you know me, always looking for the next virtual thrill.  Considering I've wasted money on the Wii balance motion and the Wii motion plus, I can't believe I hesitated on this.   :P

I could help you recoup some of your losses by sending you $40 and you could send me your Wii Balance Board...  ;)
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

What's your beef with motion plus?  I liked it, seemed to be pretty accuarate...  now if they just redid Wii Sports Boxing to work with it...
