« on: October 23, 2009, 03:01:45 am »
Now i bought this panel for the taito egret3.
http://www.starcab.net/product_info.php?cPath=219_217&products_id=826
It's a completely blank panel.
All i need is someone help me,or someone that could do it for me,to populate the CP.

I want the control panel to be:
- On the Left :
   1 joystick plus 6 buttons
- On the Center:
1 trackball with one button each side (1 right and 1 left of the trackball)
- On the Right:
1 spinner with one button each side (1 right and 1 left of the trackball)

Here you can see what i mean....

The links don't work in your post, and I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about.

You want someone to build a Control panel that you can buy? There's plenty of sites that do custom control panels.

If you're looking for a bespoke panel, that may be a little tougher around here, though I do believe there a few people that do that.

But links that work or some pictures of what you're after would help your cause a lot!

Your request needs a bit of refinement.  Why do you want buttons on each side of both the spinner and trackball?  What games will you use with this?  This might be a bit much to pack into a candy cab.  Do you have the room (depth and height) in the CP for a trackball?  Ultimately a picture is best.  Posting a sketch with good dimensions of what you’re looking for might be helpful.

Wonder what the demand for candy cab blank panels is?  I got mine made for 20 dollars.  The suckiest part of the whole thing was I had to buy 3 different bimetal bits to drill the holes and those puppies are not cheap.  I didn't overthink it.  Just put the controls on top about where I wanted them and marked off the holes.  The drilling part wasn't too bad except for the 2 1/4" hole.  Because I was doing it with a handheld drill, it kept wanting to jump around or get stuck.  I had to do a little sanding and refining once the holes were done, but with an overlay and the fact that most of the buttons overlap the holes, every imperfection will be covered over anyway.  BTW, I got Paradise Arcade's 2 1/4" trackball and it fits fine with room to spare.  It plugs into the computer's mouse port if you are doing mame.  Not sure what it would take to go the jamma route.

I've tried and i have the space for all this.
Do you think that i don't need buttons each side of spinner and trackball?
Measurement for trackball and spinner are in the link i provide.
For the trackball you can see a detailed cad measurement of it,while the spinner enter in a normal 30mm hole.
My problem is that i cannot be able to design egret3 control panel and put all this controls in it.
If i have a basic design of the control panel maybe i can go in a metal workshop to have the panel made.

Ah sorry I didn't see that you posted the sketch.  My bad.

It looks good.  You just need to think about how you are going to be using the panel.  You might want to redo the placement.  What will you use the most?  If it were me I'd put the joy and buttons in the middle.  I'd stick the TB on the right of it w/o buttons of its own and the spinner on the left of the buttons also w/o buttons of its own.  That way I'm not doubling buttons.  Can the TB and spinner in your version of the design at least use the same button between them?  It comes down to personal preference.  What had do you like to use with each control?  Once you know what you want make good measurements.  Not all shops need a cad design.  A good "blueprint" or 2d sketch should be enough for simple holes.  If someone does make a cad design for you they need exact measurements as well.
