Changing #555 bulbs
« on: October 21, 2009, 09:50:03 pm »
How does one remove a #555 bulb? I got one out without much of a problem but the next one I tried refused to come out. If the answer to how to get it out is just pull it out then does anyone have any tips for removing a stuck #555 bulb?

Do you have an extra shooter tip around? The suction power of that combined with some wiggling will pull it loose. Just work the shooter tip over the bulb about halfway, squeeze to cause a suction effect, and pull it.

Pull harder?

Sorry man, there isn't much to tell you. Either its coming out, or it isn't. You might just have to break it and then clean out the socket. Worst case - replace the socket.

Sorry I don't know the size offhand but take a bulb to the hardware store and figure it out.

Ok, that was odd. I just played a couple of games and the bulb no longer needs to be replaced. On a related note is there any way to easily change bulbs from under the upper playfield on a Royal Rumble?

I assume you mean GI lights, right? Always best to replace them from the top. I suppose you could unscrew the holder...

It's a mini playfield that makes them hard to get at on Royal Rumble.  You may have to take the thing off entirely to get at them.

RR is on my permanent wantlist.  I have only seen one locally for sale and that seller kept changing his story so I left it there.

One of our local gameroom guys has one. It is totally sweet if you were into wrestling in the early 90's. Pinmame doesn't do the actual machine justice.
