I've been trying to find all the content that was on there to put it up again, I even had it on an external but as the rule states; 'Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong." and so that drive is unreadable. How many gb of content did Local Arcade have anyway?

The drive has already gone through a professional recovery process, Most of the information was unrecoverable, that includes the local arcade images.

Who runs local arcade anyway,  I can just host a page if necessary.  If anyone has most or all of the art, let me know and we can set something up.

Zorg has as much of the art as anybody and it is already hosted.

Found an alternative in the interim:

http://vectorlib.free.fr/

And here is the Mame Multi files on that site:
http://vectorlib2.free.fr/Mame/

Sirwoogie is a member here (did you read the thread ?) and I'm sure will turn his attention to it when he has a chance.

This is still a bit rough around the edges as I've upgraded the 4images software, so I may have introduced a some bugs into the site. However, I have it all running as it was prior to it going dark. I've moved it to a new domain because that old domain just had to much spam and junk associated with it.

The new address is:

http://arcadeartlibrary.com/

I will go through the forum and change any of the links to go there instead.

This is great... I have been looking for various art files for a long time that I knew were part of the library before it dissappeared.  So happy it is back.

Yeah, no sooner than I tell everybody it's up, the system takes a kernel fail (first one I've had in 7 years). I am having them power-cycle it.

FYI, my box is still dead at the moment. The hard drive is starting to go, and I'm in the process of moving to a new host. Rock solid for 6 years, and then boom.

What registrar is it registered with?  I ask because a couple of different ones said GoDaddy and that it is pending delete.  I then went to GoDaddy and they say localarcade.com isn't in the database and it is pending delete.

I had a number of humorous responses for sirwoogie here...but they do not do justice to the appreciation I have for bringing back that artwork.

Thank you. :)

Brilliant news and thanks for the heads up. Hopefully now someone with web space going spare could offer to mirror the repo in the event of slowdowns or go-downs.

Yes, perhaps. One of my first thoughts here is to offer a nightly or weekly zip file of the entire art directory. My other alternative is to get a torrent of it going to crowdsource the content. :)

Hey that's a good idea :)

It saves bandwidth because torrents are spread by users :)

Here is "http://arcadeartlibrary.com/arcade_art/" complete from September 19 2011

It's about 2.3 GB

Also "http://vectorlib.free.fr/" complete from September 21 2011

Weighing in at 721 MB

RAR'd for a total of 2.65 GB

Let's all seed it, it will be slow at first but eventually will gain speed as more people start seeding.

Try downloading it from here :

http://www.kat.ph/arcade-artwork-rar-t5853509.html

alt : http://tinyurl.com/3toms5c

Cheers!
