Another sick SW cockpit conversion....

My good friend Luc (who already owns a SW cockpit AND upright) just bought this...

Scary.
He'd hoped that maybe some original (usable) parts would be in there.. but alas....

Just when you think you've seen everything... a Star Wars cockpit with two Tron handles.

Um, I don't see the big deal. It's not like the panel was raped and a joystick an buttons put in.

True, but all the inner stuff has been ripped out. And chances on finding all that stuff are not getting any better. (Apart from costs). It will need everything, PCB set, power brick, AR2, Amplifone deflection and HV boards, Amplifone yoke and CRT, harness etc. etc.

...unless of course the person just wanted to put in a ZVG instead of the original boardset.  I'd have no problem with that.

ZVG's are discontinued aren't they ? Plus they're not actually easy to set up. DOS, Parallel port (=old PC), requires special sound card etc.

Were there rumors about an updated ZVG ? I think if they could sell a "package", hardware, confirmed mini PC etc. they'd sell a lot better.

But anyway, that would still require a color vector monitor to be set-up and they're not very common around here...

Someone tried and failed to sell one in BST a few weeks ago.  They are out there to be had.  And it's not that hard to set up - there is a vectormame distro out there already configured for sb16.  There's nothing special about the sound card it needs.  You just need a real sb16 like most other DOS apps.  A ZVG is easier to get than a full reliable set of Star Wars boards, that's for sure.

There have been, but they said it's at least a year out, and not guaranteed to even happen.  And a full hardware package isn't their model.

Yes, it would, but would anything else be acceptable?   ;D  If he actually plans on keeping a raster in that thing I expect you to slap him yourself before we ever get to him.
