Boosting colours on K7000
« on: October 14, 2009, 10:48:30 am »
Hi
I was wondering if there are ways to obtain more vibrant colours on my K7000. I know it is very old, but in comparison to what can produce my 12 year old Samsung tv in scart rgb mode, it looks weak. I have made capkit and I use ultimarc video amplifier and everything looks ok but colours are a little washed out, I would like to get them more vibrant. Is it possible?

Possibilities:

1) old worn out tube?

2) heater voltage not up to par?

3) crank up the colors on the neckboard?

I believe it is the tube, is there any way to improve it?

CRT rejuvination may help..... have done it on many myself for great results.
Of course you need the right equipment or find a TV shop that has it.
Not a technician . . . . just a DIY'er.

When I was a TV engineer, I used to remove the heater resistor. It gives the heaters a tiny bit more voltage which gives a slightly better picture. Too much heater voltage will kill the tube though. There is only one way to do it, Replace the Tube. I binned my K7000 19" tube because it had shinobi burnt on the it and the blue was flairing. I fitted a 21" TV tube with a few minor modifications.
