Battlezone Issues
« on: October 08, 2009, 03:03:52 pm »
I've been trying to get this worked out over at KLOV,  but as of late many of the tech guys that used to visit there have stopped...

I have a Battlezone with a pulsing issue.  First I re-capped the monitor.  No help.  I then tried a different known good monitor... the issue persisted... good... it's not the monitor.

I replaced the big blue.  No help.

I tried a different AR board... no help.

I'm measuring 29.1 VAC at the monitor.

I'd try to swap power assemblies but the only other Atari assembly i have is for Asteroids... and no one can tell me if it will work or not (at least no one thus far over at KLOV).  It has a different transformer number than BZ... BZ and AD have the same.... Asteroids is different though... so I am stuck.

Here is a couple videos of the problem:

I take that back.  You said you tried a second monitor.

Could be the rectifier (Damn near killed her) on the PS.  I'm not familiar with Battlezones though.

Edge Connector Clean?

Interconnect cables tight and secure, solder joints on header pins good ?
(cables between main and aux board)

I used the B&W Vector Monitor Guide to do some testing...

According to the guide, X-OUT should measure 6.68 at the molex connector... it measures 6.3 and fluctuates to 6.4 from time to time.

Y-OUT should measure 6.69 at the molex connector... it measures 3.6 to 3.7...

Z-OUT should measure 6.7 at the molex connector... strangely, I can not get ANY reading for Z-OUT... zero. Is that right? Would an image appear onscreen if it's getting zero voltage at Z?

Anyway.... to continue....

30VAC measures 29 and change...

Pin 11 is 6.3VAC that is supposed to measure 9.7 according to the guide... it measures JACK... nothing...

What's that tell you smart guys?
