Dunno, I've got a Chevy and a couple of Fords... They all seem to break at about the same rate.

I suspect that we'll be seeing the UAW disappear in the next 10 years or so.  Along with a lot of other unions.  They need to be able to compete, and just don't seem to be interested in doing so.

Its not just three companies in this country anymore.
But wasn't it fun to think you won the lottery, just for a second there???

Car manufacturers..... they've all had their share of good and bad ..... if people want to debate good "brands" they need to be more specific to years and models.
There's not a "brand" out there that I haven't seen a "crap" model from.

Thank You Kevin Mullins!

It seems as if in the media, only the asian brands are without fault and any time a D3 brand has the slightest ding, the people and media jump all over it.

They all have their faults, the asian brands are experiencing them now!

Pinto and Gremlin, both were terrible cars! The recent 500/Taurus debacle, nice-comfy-safe ride, but awful to the eye! The Mercury Merkur, terible terible terible!

Fordman

The Merkur XR4ti is one of the most fun cars I have ever driven.  :)

No way.  The companies will disappear before the unions will.  And the gov't won't allow the companies to fail.  Sooner or later they'll end up in a subsidized situation - paid to not work officially.  Every politician with a hair's chance of getting a union endorsement will throw money at them like they are CEOs.

As for your jab at the UAW, what is your beef with the UAW? The UAW is my choice for labor representation. If you dont feel you need representation, then fine, continue to work for what the company feels you are worth and not you feel you are worth!
In my experience, I negotiate with the employer and if we don't come to an agreement regarding what I want to be paid and they are willing to pay, then I don't take the job.  ???

But then i've never done factory work... But the principle is the same. Don't feel you're paid enough? Go find another job.
NO MORE!!

But what if I feel that they're wrong ?

Who is going to look out for me ?

Are you actually saying that I should be responsible for myself ?

How dare you ?

You are nothing buy a Toyota-driving farging icehole!

That's why I bought a Mercury Montego, actually.  Same car, much cleaner look I think, and no problems for a six and a half foot dude to fit in it.
