Monitor troubleshooting tips...
« on: July 15, 2003, 12:18:18 pm »
Hi,
I'm having problems with my cabinet monitor. I don't know the Model, (where can I find it?) but I think it is a sharp (it uses an RCA tube). I was wondering if anyone had some tips to troubleshoot these problems.

I keep getting Wavy lines on the screen that move from the bottom to the top of the screen, also the display quality is not the best (things look very grainny).

BTW: I'm using ArcadeVGA

Can you snap a pic of it, in action?  And maybe a pic of the monitor chasis and post it here?

Did you buy the video amp circuit with your ArcadeVGA card (or are using a jpac that has it built in)???

*shrug*  Well let us know on the pics...

I am using a jpac together with the ArcadeVGA.

I'll take some pics of the chasis.

Thanks

Sounds like you have an interferance problem. Perhaps a filter on the A/C  line in? Sometimes flourescent bulbs in the marquee area can cause this, or maybe even if you put in a non-standard speaker system in your cabinet?

Do the wavy lines appear when the central air conditioner is running, or do you have it near any other major appliance (refrigerator)?

Good luck, and let us know what you find.

Sounds like you have a grounding problem to me. I have similar lines on my monitor because it doesn't have a ground.

Thanks, for the reply, I had the guy that sold me the cabinet come and take a look at it. While I don't understand all of the details, the problem was that there where two horizontal synchs and only one was wired. (at least that is what he told me)

BTW: It was an Sharp Image monitor with RCA tube.

Thanks
for all the replies
