Galaga Cocktail Monitor no longer working
« on: September 21, 2009, 02:06:50 am »
Had my Galaga cocktail unit working ok on me until yesterday... the unit was reclaimed from a neighbor who claimed it wasn't working.  I gave it a little TLC and got it to work fine for over a year apparently but now it appears the moniitor is really dead.  I can still get gameplay and sounds but no lit screen whatsoever.

Not sure which number's the model number, so I took some photos....

Looks like theres some charring on this board but hard to tell... don't know if it was there before or not.

I'm a total noob when it comes to repair on this, any help would be great!

You have an Electrohome G07.  Check the fuses.  If they're blown, a rebuild is in order.

I checked every fuse I could find last night w/ a continuity tester and they all appeared ok.

Bugger!

Have you got a repair dude near you? You could remove the chassis and pop it into a box and take it down to them (or even mail it). Your problem is very unlikely to be in the CRT tube component.

Is there any noise coming from the flyback while the monitor is turned on?
Check out my completed projects!

Probably just due for a general overhaul...... caps, solder joints, possibly a flyback, etc.
(check to see if flyback has a crack)

Common monitor, easy to fix, parts readily available.
Not a technician . . . . just a DIY'er.

Thanks for the tips.  I'm not even sure which one is the flyback.
I had to search for "Electrohome G07" to find some references,
let me know what you think of what I found:
