ArcadeVGA XP Drivers won't install
« on: September 20, 2009, 02:25:45 pm »
Hey guys. I have the PCIE version of the Arcade VGA (ATI Radeon HD2400). It is brand new, just got it from Ultimarc.

I have been talking to Andy over email but its kinda slow because he is on the other side of the world (Time Zone thing)  ;D

I figured I would try on here. Might get faster suggestions to try.

Anyways. The computer I have the ArcadeVGA on is brand new. Intel board, E8400CPU, blah blah blah. Basic computer but pretty fast. XP installed fine. No problems there at all. And I did install the Intel chipset drivers right after installing XP.

I put in Ultimarc CD, pick the PCIE version of the XP drivers, and it says the software I am trying to install does not support the hardware in my system and then quits.

Things I have tried:
Installing drivers manually through device manager
Booting into VGA mode by pressing F8 upon boot
Making sure PCIE is selected in the BIOS and not AGP
Updating the BIOS to latest version

None of that has worked.

Any idears?

Thx
Mark

Are you trying to install 64 bit drivers on the 32 bit system or vice versa? Make sure you disable onboard video in the bios, north bridge or south bridge settings I can't remember, but it'll be called I something for integrated video, disable that and turn the pc off. Install the card and turn it on and when it loads it'll ask to look up drivers, don't sdo it, click specify location and pick the cd rom drive option and it'll find the drivers. Video card installs are a pain regardless.

No I made sure I was installing the right drivers. 32 bit XP PCIE from the Ultimarc CD.

The motherboard I am using does not have onboard video.

It is a clean install of XP SP3. Nothing else installed but chipset drivers right now.

Thx
