Derren Brown: How to Control the Nation

Did anyone see this last night?

The show was about PWA, Perception Without Awareness and he did some various tricks throughout the show.

At the end of the show he said he would show some footage that would make you feel like you were stuck in your chair and unable to stand up. I really didn't think it would work but it ---smurfing--- did!

I honestly couldn't stand up for about three minutes. I could just move ---my bottom--- off the sofa but I had no strength in my legs and couldn't stand up no matter what I did. It was really freaky.

It didn't work on my GF or my friend but I was just wondering if anyone else caught it and if it worked on them too. They showed the footage being shown to a live cinema audience and it seemed to work on about half of them.

I think its being repeated today. If you can't catch it or are unable to watch Channel 4 I imagine there will be a torrent that you can DL. Try to get a fairly high resolution if you can as he said it wouldn't work on lower res's like on youtube etc.

I didn't see it, but I love all his shows. It doesn't play here in Canada, so I've been stuck watching online versions.

Never heard of him. After the last David Blaine joke of a special, I think the networks will shy away from those types of things.

I'd like to see this interesting video. Of course I call bs on the internet explanation. It won't work online because you aren't part of the 'mob effect' then.

 It works because some peoples minds are much more suggestive.  Easier to persuade ,influence, and control.   Their conscious minds losing control as the
subconscious mind takes over.

 When I found out about this... First, I was relieved I wasnt part of this group...
But, I was shocked how many people were like this... and was scared as Hell
for what was possible.

 In fact, you can see people/corporations  using these tactics against such
people all the time.  Everything from advertising... to propagandist news,
and much more.   You can even see this in the very music thats created...
certain styles which are conducive to this type of person.

....I didn't really get it. I mean, you're sitting there and being instructed to do something. Do follow the instructions or not? Seems a lot like sitting at a cliff and thinking about jumping off: do you or don't you? Depends on the experience you 'want'.

David Blaine is pretty much ruining it for the entire industry. Magicians (or whatever they want to call themselves now) is about 90% showmanship. David Blaine is just an ass doing stupid stunts. Dive of Death? Puhlease.

Derren Brown is not in anywhere the same "category" as David Blaine.  Blaine was about magic tricks, and then turned into mr "look at me doing nothing for a reall long time" nonsense.

Derren is about psychology, and explaining why people believe dumb things and behave in dumb ways (though it's not always explained directly or at all, and "dumb" is my own inference). ;-)

 He uses special subliminal vocal techniques and environmental clues to change
and alter the guys mind.   This video includes the reveal, so you can see exactly what

 These show how the mind can be fooled using special tactics.  Confusing the conscious mind,
causing a sort of trance state,  and getting the persons subconscious mind to take over for a
moment.

 They use these methods in advertisement, as well as to control peoples opinions with
propaganda on the "bought and paid for"  TV news / newspapers / Mass Media... (etc).

 The stuff goes deep... down to using fear, and strong emotional impact to cause the mind
to conform... and or steer people away from the real truths.
