On Donkey's behinds and Class Acts In the Music Business
« on: September 14, 2009, 07:57:36 am »
 :soapbox:                :soapbox:                          :soapbox:                        :soapbox:

Ok, I'm 41 years old.  Yeah, I'm near older than dirt.  Yeah, I'm  :censored: out of touch with the real world, you young whippersnappers. But I'm still mature enough to know an  :censored: when I see one, and likewise a class act.

I didn't see this until this morning, but apparently last night at the video awards live program, Taylor Swift, a young 17- and extremely gifted - songwriter (I have written songs for several years) and singer won the female vocalist award, topping Beyonce and lord only knows who else.  If you saw the video, you know this kid was so shocked she was speechless.  But being the charmer that she is, she got up and very politely began by saying that she had dreamed of this; but that "I sing country music; so thank you for giving me a chance."  She would get no further.

Out of the crowd comes this horses behind Kayne West. Who the hell is Kayne West? Oh, that's right - he's black and he's got a chip on his shoulder 5 miles wide.  Don't believe it? Check this out:

http://www.comcast.net/video/kanye-wests-vma-outburst/1252443416/Comcast/1250522829/

he interrupts this kids acceptance speech to tell her "Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time.  OF ALL TIME."  He is practically yelling at her. Beyonce is sitting in the audience, mouth open, shaking her head as if to say "What the hell is he doing?"  He jumps back off the stage and poor Taylor is left standing there, unable to finish, unsure as to what to do next.

This brings us to the class act portion of this.  Apparently several moments later, Beyonce does win an award- I am not sure which.  I only know that this lady is one incredible person.  Here's the rest of the story - and the best of it:

http://www.comcast.net/video/beyonce-saves-taylor-swift-s-night/1252522176/Comcast/1250522829/

. Kayne West owes both these ladies an apology, but they'll never get it, I'm sure of that.  As for Mr. West, from what I know of, his career is mediocre at best....maybe this will bury a true  :censored: once and for all, and show these young artists that we still expect you to carry yourself with respect.

Somebody will eventually say, "Yeah, but doesn't he have the right to speak his mind?" Sure he does - after the awards show is over!  It takes a heartless, spineless, cowardly weasel to try and take the spotlight away from somebody who already KNEW she was blessed to be up there....and likewise humbled by it.

This is why I'm not upper level management. Soon as 8 AM got here, I'd have West in my office and assure him that he would be looking for a new record label as of 8:01 AM - that we didn't need rats like him in the fold.  He would be followed by Beyonce, whom I would immediately sign to a lifetime deal.

God, what a pompous ass he was.  Thank the lord, one more time, for blessing this world with somebody with a little common sense, and a lot of class, like Miss B.  I always liked her, but she only solidified what I THOUGHT I already knew last night.

Done.  Sorry bout that.

Wow, not that I'm shocked, but wow. I've never liked the guy, and this is just disgusting.

I never liked Beyonce, but she's a class-act. Good on her!

Why do normal people get so worked up over contrived professional sports? ???

I feel the same way about any sport where the winner is determined by judges.  Direct competition, quantifiable, isn't contrived.  Anything where someone has to decide a winner based on opinion is.

If officiating was done by robots instead of humans, there would be at least 20 yellow flags on every single NFL play...

...and the game would be incredibly boring.

Just for the record, if all you see I got worked up about is the award, you missed the point - totally.  They could've given it to Michael Jackson post humously (sp?), and I wouldn't have cared.  It was the guy's lack of class that threw me over the edge.

Plus, as a local radio host said, change the races around: Had that been a white man doing that to a young up and coming female black artist, there would have been a riot.

Meh - there's been a pretty good round of booing and tar-and-feathering. No one likes what he did. Beyonce and Swift handled it with class.

A drunk guy acted like a ---meecrob--- at a party.  Big surprise there.    Especially given that it's a guy we already knew was a ---meecrob--- to begin with.

Everyone talking about it is only giving him what he wants.

Apparently he didn't get enough attention paid to him as a child, because this was nothing more than that.  He is an attention whore, plain and simple.

Oh.  Conceited.  Definitely conceited as well.

Just watched the Leno video.....

Man, West did seem truly conflicted....but he's still a jerkoff.

Good job on Jay's part for bringing up his mom. :lol

It was weak sauce, but most likely true. He never did take off any time to grieve. He obviously has alot of inner rage, and an alcohol problem. When Jay asked what his mother would think, it hit him like a ton of bricks. I think the public backlash is a good thing. If any celebrity needed a whole humble pie, it was him.

Giving the devil his due, I did see the Leno interview, and I thought Jay nailed him.  I have also read just a moment ago where he called Taylor after her apperance on the View and they chatted.  According to her, he very humbly apologized, and she accepted.

He was quoted as saying that he really needs to take some time off and get it together, figure out how to better himself from here.

Me, I'll lay off - if Taylor's forgiven him, so be it, and may he truly learn a lot from it.  I honestly do not know if I believe him totally, but the stuff with his losing his mom was  hard for me to watch last night....if that's true, I hope he does take a year or two off and get himself back together.  Truthfully speaking, I can't imagine not giving myself time to grieve over such a loss as that.

Still though, there's no denying that until I see proof of change otherwise, he's deserved every bit of rebuke he got.
