Rolpa's Mame Cabinet Conversion
« on: August 28, 2009, 01:51:26 am »
Hello everybody. I have been dieing to have an arcade cabinet since I was a little kid. So I decided to convert an old cabinet into a Mame box. After a lot of searching around, I finally found a cabinet to convert:

Judging from the curved marque,  I think this was originally a RoboCop cabinet. However, It was converted into a Marvel Vs. Capcom machine, and finally had that taken out of it, so I think it's safe to convert it to a Mame cab.

This is going to be my first build, and I have decided to keep the control setup the way it is, although I might switch out the joysticks with Ultimarc sticks, since those can be switched from four-way to eight way from the top of the control panel. I also have to replace the player one start button with an actual player 1 button. On top of all of that, both the t-molding and coin door are missing, so I'll have to get new ones.

Needless to say, this will take a lot of effort, but it should be fun.

looks like a great start for a good project.  It will take some work, but that is the fun part.  good luck and make sure you take lots of pics.
