Monitor chassis can be switched but they have to be closely matched to do so. In most cases the voltages will be different on a chassis from a different size monitor so it will not work. You can buy general replacement chassis from this link:

These chassis have been discussed in another thread and I remember that it worked out OK for someone. You have to measure some resistances and give screen size for them to match the chassis for you.
