Inglourious Basterds

Finally got out to check this movie out this afternoon.

Wow. Best Tarantino flick in a long while, though I have to admit I did kinda like his part of that double feature a while back.

The trailers make it out almost like a Brad Pitt vehicle, but Pitt really doesn't get all that much screen time.

And there's plenty of Tarantino talk scenes, although they play a bit odd when dubbed.

Still, I enjoyed it.

I saw it yesterday and, I must admit, this was my first Tarantino. After seeing this, I will be definitely checking out his other films. I loved the fact that he didn't take the easy way out by having the actors speak English in their respective accents. Having them actually speak the language they were representing was an excellent choice. Christoph Waltz (Col. Hans Landa) was FANTASTIC. All of the award buzz he has been getting is well deserved. Excellent actor and seemingly fluent in 4 languages (Even if not, I was convinced).

Yeah, This was definitely one of his better pics. I liked parts of kill bill. Really liked Pulp Fiction. I actually liked Jackie Brown too, but nobody talks about that movie.

Still, this was good. Pitts character reminded me a lot of his char in Snatch, which was an OK movie but not near as good as Lock Stock and two Smoking barrels.

I especially enjoyed how he allowed scenes room to breathe.

Best spaghetti western since "Once Upon a Time in the West"

I seen it for the second time last night!! haha great flick!! Very brutal at times!! The dialog was classic Tarantino!! And the cameos were great!! Overall very awesome!! The funniest review i read mentioned that "It was not historically accurate".... no  sherlock! but i did however see a preview for the new "Trailor Park Boys Movie" which i am excited for (being a crazy canadian and such)!!! Christoph Waltz was amazing!! You loved to hate the guy but yet you are drawn by "the many voices" (languages) he has....

Go see it but prepare for alot of dialog... (i liked it but some didnt) and be prepared for a violent and ever changing flick!!

I found this movie quite entertaining, the worst part for me was the cinema seat after 2 3/4 hours got a bit uncomfortable! Quite shocking in parts but you come to expect that from a tarantino movie. There were scenes where I had to sit back and disengage from the violence, but I think that's more because of my experience of Auschwitz than anything else. If it was a world war 1 movie, I'd have been just as distanced as anyone else. Nevertheless, good movie and I would recommend it though maybe wait till it comes out on DVD so you can use your couch, or find a comfy cinema!

I give it 4.5/5. Only tiny little things niggled me, but that's Tarrantino. for instance, half way through, there is a Davie Bowie song...

I was really put off by Tarrantino after the twin jokes that were Kill Bill (i'm probably alone in thinking it, but they were really stupid).

Back to Inglourious, As Mauzy mentioned, Christoph Waltz was superb. He speaks four languages fluently in this movie, it just blew me away! When he changed languages in one scene, I didn't realise for a second. And in fact my housemate missed the joke entirely because she never realised he was speaking another language until i mentioned it after the movie.

Although i've seen a few old movies, i'm not a fanboy by any means so i wasn't aware of any cameos (which apparently there were). Only in the credits did i see someone who acted as himself, but i'd never heard of him anyway. I'm sure Tarrantino gushes about this dude. That's what he's about! edit: This is the dude. It would be astounding if Tarrantino DIDNT gush about him, seeing as how he directed spaghetti westerns and made a movie called 'Inglorious ---daisies---'...

I too liked Jackie Brown, wanted to love Pulp Fiction, but couldn't quite get into it. Death Proof saw him starting to redeem himself after the afore mentioned retarded pair of movies  . My favourite would be Reservoir Dogs, but after seeing his latest i'm not so sure. Inglourious is definitely his best 'western'...

Edit: Actually, i just realised on the way home today that i was aware of a cameo by Rod Taylor from the credits at the beginning of the movie! Of course once the movie started i forgot about it. Doh! Thinking about it now i tried to imagine whom he might have played, I thought either Goering or Churchill. It was Churchill. I was also thinking he was in Hitchcocks 'North by North West'. But that was Cary Grant. Still, it's one of my favs, just going to buy it on ebay now (",)

Oh, and of course Mike Myers was an obvious cameo, but i didn't even think of his role as one...
