I don't think I can name 10, because I know I'll leave stuff out. Hard to narrow it down.

These are in no particular order.

EDIT: I tried. I couldn't do it.  :lol

This has been done a few times before, but it's always interesting to revisit. I find my 'top ten' is in constant flux. Here's some:

Seven Samurai (doesn't matter how many times i think of a list, this is always in it)

Blade Runner

Mon Onkle

Clerks

Alien (this will also probably always be in my list)

Micheal Clayton

Strange Days (just saw this again for first time since '96. Was afraid it would date since it was set on 31st dec 1999. It hasn't dated. Still a great movie!)

Shawshank Redemption

Ratatouille

Firefox

Quote
my score for recent movies you may have seen:

5/5 - Michael Clayton, In Bruges, Gran Torino, Mary and Max

4.5/5 - Taken, Iron Man, Reign Over Me

4/5 - Traitor, Bedtime Stories, Sunshine, pineapple express

3.5/5 - 300, Max Payne, You dont mess with the Zohan, Yes Man

3/5 - That new Indiana Jones flick, Disturbia, That new TMNT flick,

2.5/5 - Angels and Demons

2/5 - The Love Guru. Note: My 2 is probably someone elses 1. Just leaving room for worse!

I had a hard time getting a top 10 list from my memory so I checked my NetFlix rating for the movies that got 5 stars.  They were the best movies with 5 stars, so even though I don't think they should be on my top 10 list I can't think of any movies that are better, so until I see better films:

1. Fletch
2. Role Models
3. Death at a Funeral
4. Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins
5. Darkman
6. Gran Torino
7. Invasion U.S.A.
8. Red Dawn
9. My Science Project
10. Big Trouble in Little China

I almost put that on my list, its hard for me to put Comedies as top movies though.  The Big Lebowski transcends that boundary.

The list I was attempting had Dr Strangelove on it (and Raising Arizona). There was no question whether or not it should be on my top ten.

Good pick! The second part of trilogy is my fave as well (though the rest are awesome!). Leone rules!

All three are fantastic.  I really like Once Upon a Time in the West as well.  But For a Few Dollars More is my favorite.  Leone does rule.

I was glad to see Indy 4 get a little love for a change.  I enjoyed it.  It is the 4th best Indy movie which is still better than most.

Ha ha Wayne's World! When I was in college I somehow managed to get a job at a local amusement park dressing up and acting like Garth. Cheerleader day at the park was freakin awesome when your Garth! It's the only job I ever had where I could walk up to a hot chick and  say "You make me feel kind of funny, like when I had to climb the ropes in gym class! sha...wing!!"  and not get myself ---smurfette--- slapped and fired ;D Ahhh...... good times...good times!  :)

That's 13.

And Stripes belongs in the thread about movies that don't hold up.

Sorry, but I still love to watch Stripes.  I also enjoy Better off Dead.
I disagree that they dont hold up.   Ever watch a movie recently?  Very few
are worth watching let alone 'holding up'.

Stripes is an alltime classic.  Harrold Ramis, Bill Murry, John Candy...
these guys make almost anything worth watching.

To each his own.
