I increased the number of lives for a game I wanted to practice but now when I go to switch it back it won't work.  Any ideas?

Your cfg file or folder is read only?  You have autosavestate enabled, but the file is read only?  The game emu is buggy?

What game and mame version?

How about deleting the d2k.cfg from the cfg, the settings will then get reseted.  Just an idea.
