Mame, that other version...
« on: August 19, 2009, 09:08:59 am »
What is the best version of Mame that plays games that the current "offical" version of Mame does not play?

Misfit Mame?
Mame32UI?

What plays the most games?
Which has the most support?

Thanks.

MameUI, which was previously known as Mame32, is official Mame but with a GUI.

I'm not really sure what I mean... I just know there are all these games that you can play in unofficial versions of Mame. Trying to figure out if there is one that does it all or what the deal is here...

I want to play Shmup Roms like Mahou Daisakusen -- 1993, Shippu Mahou Daisakusen Kingdom-Grandprix -- 1994 etc...

Not sure what version of Mame supports that kinda stuff...???

MisfitMame does have games that aren't released in official Mame.

Question is though, will it play those Shmup Roms?

I will read over the list on that site...

Speaking of getting "new" ROMs to work in MAME, I still for the life of me cannot get the Buckrogers/zoom909 ROMs to work with every MAME I have used (from 117 to 120). This includes a version of MAME32FX as well. They seem to show missing files (often with a .cpu ending) but I am damn sure I have the parent ROM for this. EG I have buckrog.zip and zoom909.zip. Any ideas?

The emulation is not complete and that clone has a bad dump.

Terrible game anyways. I remember seeing it on Starcade and thinking it might be cool, but was way disappointed when I actually got to play it. Like, godfather of Space Harrier. Elch.
