My Killer Instinct project
« on: August 18, 2009, 11:49:28 am »
Hello!

Pretty hard and long way behind me. I live in Hungary, and becouse of this is a small country in the middle of Europe, I have to order any replacement from the U.S. However I bought the cabinet for a ridiclous amount of money. It cost only 210$. Unfortunately it barely worked, the HDD died next week, I had to replace it. The control panel was in bad shape, I ordered new buttons, and joysticks, new plexi, new glasses, restaurated and painted the coin doors, ordered new t-molding.

The only one thing left is the side arts. Pretty hard stuff. I dont even have an idea, how can I get the old ones down, and put up new ones. If anybody have some ideas, share with me please:)

Attached some pics:)

WOW nice find!  Killer Instinct is one of my all time favorites.
It looks in decent condition.  Why are you interested in removing the side art?  Is it in bad shape?  I would recommend a heat gun, take it slow, don't hold it in one place or you'll just burn it.  You want to warm the adhesive under the graphic so it will let you peel it right off.
Again I can't see the side art very well, but it looks like its in great condition, are you trying to replace it.

Excellent find for $210!  You can probably replace the PCB if that's what went out.

Thanks:) Unfortunately the arts are in bad shape, and I want to own a near out-of-factory cabinet:)
There are many scratches, like this:

I haven't seen a Killer Instinct cab in a while, but I would recommend a heat gun to remove all that.

Yeah, I think that would be the solution. Thanks!:)

210 really aint that bad midway cabinets are very desirable and killer instinct was a arcade smash hit.

it already comes with a street fighter style 6 button lay out so you can pretty much put what ever you want in there be it mame or another jamma board.
Anyone got change for a dollar?
