Touchscreen monitor is too Dark HELP...
« on: August 18, 2009, 12:40:03 am »
Does anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong with a touchscreen monitor when the colors/picture is dark. This is the same game and it has the same problem. Is anyone familiar with it?

If the picture is so dark you can barely make out what is on the screen it could be a blown backlight bulb which are a HUGE PIA to change.

PIA yes....... but this is a CRT, no backlight bulbs.   ;)

Kevin, how do you know its a crt?

Well, not to sound funny or nothing...... but can tell just by looking at it. Curved face and all.
(plus the size of machine, yada, yada)

I would assume this is a 19" CRT.
I've seen several places online list them, but in all reality the "touchscreen" and the "monitor" are two different beasts. So you could actually replace the monitor and remove and remount the touchscreen from the old one. (carefully)
Big thing to find out is if it is a VGA monitor or not.

Hit up a slot machine company....... they're getting rid of VGA CRT monitors left and right.
Literally throwing them away. I have a few. ;D

There aren't any "good" ones.   :laugh2:

Actually the smaller companies are the ones most likely to have CRT's still laying around.
Most of the big companies have already converted over to LCD's for most of their machines.

Have you tried adjusting the brightness knob on the back of the flyback transformer?
