star wars flight yoke

Ok, I'm in the planning stages and thought I'd ask here about one issue.

It's a 4p panel, 48" long, width tba, and a drawer underneath showcase type cab. Now, I'd *like* to mount a star wars yoke in the middle, but I'm thinking it might be an eye sore if there all the time. Anyone know of a clever way I might be able to attach it, but have it either hide away or look good on top ? removable would be a last resort option.

a friend suggested a diagonal push/pull so it doesn't interfere with the drawer underneath.

I'm trying to do something in sketchup, but oh boy.

I can't think of any way to do it except detachable.  The only other thing I can think of would be to have it lower into the control panel in some fashion.

I am not sure, but someone posted here about a rotating CP.  It had three sides, which contained a variety of controls for specific games.  For example, one side had a standard arcade buttono layout with spinners etc., the second side had a racing wheel and the other had a flight stick.  Check the control panel section and you may see it there.

Im thinking if you can some how make a sheet metal base to mount the yoke on and have 4 post or posts with a thread almost like Happ's trackbal PLate but have the 4 posts completely go your CP and secure with wings nuts from the underneath. Of course you'll have 4 holes in the CP when yokes not in use but......

I've seen those links before, and I appreciate the posts, but I definitely want to have the yolk perma-attached (things in my house tend to wander away and not come back). The other issue I have is there will be a drawer underneath, so recessing it might require a diagonal slant down. I guess the other option is to mount it in drawer and have it rise up from there.

Damn this planning, why can't I just throw it together already ? 

If I had the room, I'd probably build a second dedicated machine for the yolk.
