Makeing a tube compatable with my chassis

I fully realize that I may be out of my mind with this one but I'm hoping it's not only possible but doable as well.

I'm about to get my hands on a 19" WG K7000 chassis that I don't have a tube for.  The current owner has the tube with yoke.  The problem is that the tube has significant burn in and I don't want to pay to have it shipped so I can trash it. 

How hard is it to find a compatible tube? 

Would getting the yoke as well as the chassis be of any use? 

I thought I read somewhere that the chassis and yoke compatibility is the major issue when doing a tube swap.  If that's true are 19" tubes (outside of the yoke) more or less universal? ... and if so how hard would it be to swap the yokes?

yes it is true,only problem you may encounter are issues with geometry and convergence but if you are lucky then at the very least the magnetic rings will adjust that out

Good news thanks Grantspain.

My next question is how does one go about removing and then reinstalling a monitor yoke?

well its normally just a jubilee clip that holds the yoke assem in place but if its a bonded yoke you will not be able romove it without destroying it

well its normally just a jubilee clip that holds the yoke assem in place but if its a bonded yoke you will not be able romove it without destroying it

Is there an easy way to visually tell if the yoke is bonded or clipped?

19" tubes come in different neck diameters: 22.5mm and 29mm. Naturally the yokes are different. Also 19" tubes come in 90 degree deflection angle and 100 degree.

When searching for a replacement tube how do I tell the deflection angle?  I'm looking for something compatible with a K7000 main board #p456.  Can I assume that all P456 main board chassis use the same deflection angle yokes?

FYI for those of you looking to replace a monitor tube with a TV tube ...
