I have a Big Hurt machine that I've had for a few years now.  I don't play it very often because there seems to always be a little something wrong and I'm super picky about the game play.  I've had a lingering flipper problem that I (hopefully) finally found the solution to.  The right flipper didn't seem strong enough and it also wouldn't register presses for letter change for high score or press right flipper to choose a gameplay mode.  I checked all connections, did a flipper rebuild kit and couldn't find anything.  I opened it back up today and found one of the legs of a capacitor was broken off.  It was broken right at the plastic so very difficult to find.  I plan on replacing the whole switch, in my troubleshooting I damaged the paper so this button now has much less resistance than the left flipper.  The capacitor reads TI .1Z 500v  I couldn't find anything in the manual about what these values mean.  I plan on ordering from Marco and I have an email in to them asking if they have the part.  Is this something Radio Shack might have?

I hate to pay a bunch of shipping for such a small item so I was going through the site looking for some filler.  Does anyone recommend that I replace both buttons to get an even feel?  Any recommendations on little parts that break often that would be handy to have?

Lastly, I noticed an inclinometer tool on the website that said pins should be around 6 and 7 degrees.  My Black Pyramid site at around 5 degrees according to my iphone.  The game is very slow, I would assume increasing the incline might add some excitement.  Big hurt sits at a whopping 11.5.  I'm wondering if this is another factor in why the flippers are having a tough time?

Thanks.

Ed.

I just spent some time leveling the machine.  I maxed out the legs and could only get the machine to about 10 degrees.  After playing it at that level I realized the glass is not level with the playfield.  I took the glass off and tried to level the playfield and could only get to about 5.5 degrees maxed out in the other direction.  This seems way too fast, but could be because I'm used to the old way.  I'm using a digital level on my iphone, I'm gonna hit home depot tomorrow and get a real one.

Not sure about your other questions - but the capacitor is a ceramic disc cap, 0.1uF, 500V.  Fairly common but the 500 volt rating tends to drive up the cost a bit.  Doesn't need to be 500V - should be able to use a 100V version.
Rat Shack might carry these.

Marco does have these -- his part number #C.1M500VR and he seems to have them priced pretty cheaply for a cap of this value (I wish I knew where he got them).

Thanks.  I ordered the switch from Pinball Resource and it comes with the capacitors.

Do you have a manual for the Black Diamond machine? My new Theatre of magic has a built in level. At first I thought the bubble had to be all the way in the scale. I couldn't get it that high, so I opened the manual. Turns out I was supposed to be at 6.5 and the top of the bubble should have been half way between the 1st and 2nd line on the level. I was around 9.5 (funny thing is I got the high score with the speed jacked up). Point being, check the manual, maybe it's available online. I found my Earthshaker in a pdf online.
You probably remember me from such films as `The Revenge of Abe Lincoln' and `The Wackiest Covered Wagon in the West'
