help with K7000, weird picture
« on: August 08, 2009, 07:01:01 pm »
my monitor has this weird picture where you can see some things fine while other things are pixley, like in the two pictures below. You can read the 1player start line just fine but the sprite behind it is messed up? can it have something to do with the sync wire? Do you think a cap kit will fix it, and where do i buy them does anybody have a link.

Most of that looks like a game board issue, not the monitor.  If you have another game board, try it with that to verify.

I have to agree - board issue.  Neo Geo game, right?  Try cleaning the cartridge.

3rded ...... board or possibly power supply issue.

A monitor does not dictate sprites. It only shows what is sent to it.
So if some is fine and some is not..... that's what is being sent to it.

Wow, i just noticed my flyback transformer has a huge crack in it and a wire that runs over it is burnt. Can that be the cause? and when i plug it in i can here something click.

No, that can't be the cause.  Does sound like it needs replacing, but that won't do anything for your graphics.

Well i just found out Both of my mvs's look like this in this cab but my cps2 looks better, almost normal. Which is funny because it was fine when i pulled it out of my big red cab to test this monitor. Now i know i have a bad flyback and i dont know where to order a new one. are all k7000 flyback transformers the same, or do i need to look for a part #

If you have just a plain good ol' fashion K7000 then:
K7000 flyback replacement (053X0528-001)    $19.00 + @$6.00 shipping
http://www.therealbobroberts.net/parts.html#flyback

Verify your model number..... K7193, etc, etc

Still has nothing to do with the graphics glitches.
Two MVS's do it .... cartridges? .... same motherboard?

CPS2.... what's NOT normal looking about it?

Yes both of my mvs's do it with different games ect, but they look fine when i plug them in my big red; The cps2 is wavey on the right hand side from the top down but its good enough for me. And thanks to everyone who helped me out, i get frustrated working with electronics.

make a habit of discharging any time u work around the anode cup and should be fine.
i.e before disconnecting or reconnecting anode lead
