No Video through S-Video output only in windows.
I have just upgraded my MB and Video Card on a computer I use as an arcade machine.
I need the output to go to a Television through S-Video
The problem is odd because I can see the bios loading and even the "Loading Windows XP Loading bar across the screen on the TV, but once Windows starts the screen goes blank.
Steps taken in preinstall:
I removed all the display drives prior to installing new hardware and started the computer with monitor and installed the new Nvidia drivers.
Trouble shooting steps and results:
1. I Connected the VGA connection while the screen was blanks on S-Video output.
Result:
The screen DID display on the VGA connection
2. Loaded windows into Safe Mode.
While loading drives before sfe mode comes up, it hangs at gagp30kx.sys
but continues to load after a while. The display shows on the elevision in safe mode.
Additional information:
After doing a bit of research I found out that the gagp30kx.sys is a Via AGP driver.Could this be the source of my problem? I no longer am using AGP, maybe windows is also loading my old AGP and trying to display to the AGP slot that is no longer there???
3. I Went into the BIOS and made sure that the PCI express card was the default card used.
Result: none When loading windows regularly, it still could not display to the S-Video connection on the monitor.
My questions are as follows
1. Does windows need to still load the gagp30kx.sys file when using PCI-E?
2. Is there a way to verify that all AGP drivers are removed even though none display in Hardware Manager?
Any other help would be appreciated Thanks!
ok after a bit more TS I think I found where at least i need to look.
I removed all drivers using the tool tools listed above.
result:
the computer came up and used the TV as needed
then after I reinstalled the graphic drives I had the same problem...
Luckily I had the same kind of card in another computer that is by another manufacturer.
I just didnt want to take apart.
they both are running the exact same drivers
I will refer to the cards as such
"Palit" is the suspected problem card in the "arcade" machine.
"PNY" is the card in my "bedroom" computer
I tested the PNY on the bedroom machine that it was currently in.
result:
works perfect displaying to the television
I then swapped the two cards
result:
now I tested the PNY in the arcade machine and I have the exact same problem.
then I tested the Palit in the bedroom computer with an LCD television it works fine.
Just to rule out the motherboard I movd the other comuter upstars and tested it on my LCD monitor and it works.
perfect...
It seems to be an issue with my older TV and the video drivers. I neve had this issue before and it works with ATI cards fine. I wonder if anyone else has had this issue and if so how did you resolve it?
Thanks in advance
