MisfitMame....can somebody explain it?

From what i was told, Misfitmame is a special build of Mame that plays the hacked versions of roms...is there a wiki that has more info on this type of emu? I'm interested in trying it out...I am currently using Hyperspin for my frontend and I'm hoping that this Misfitmame runs the same as regular Mame...

Basiclly , what version is out and or what version do i need?
What all is needed or what?

I'm a noob with this...only thing i know so far is the name....

can anybody point me in the right direction?

Mame has a few rules on what games it includes: game released to the wild with real rom differences (more than just graphics hacks) than the parent, etc.  Misfitmame was designed to allow all those hacks that official mame doesn't accept (ie homegrown and/or graphics hacks).

Not sure what you mean by "that type of emu"; misfitmame is (currently) a deviv from official mame 0.127 that allows the hacks.  AFAIK, no differences on the hardware emulation side than mame 0.127.  To use it, just like with mame, you just need it and the right rom sets.

I wasnt for sure if it was a different emulator than regular mame....Reason why is that i have Hyperspin as my frontend...and its set to run regular mame. If misfit is a simular build...I think i can get it to also run in Hyperspin...

Ive only messed with MameUI32 v129...so i new to the other versions...such as misfit mame...

I believe misfitmame does not run some of the regular games ,correct me if im wrong but i tried to run some regular games, (mikie) and misfit wont load the roms, maybe they are not included in the source.
