Or Touch n' Play, or Master of Touchettes, or Touch and Dance.... you get the idea.
You guessed it, it's a touchscreen Jukebox! I'm still looking for a name, but progress is rolling along quite well. I'd like to thank mountain for putting the bug in my ear, his build has given many people here the inspiration to try it themselves. I've included a few pictures of what I've done so far. I'm no wiz at sketchup or anything like that so my plans were all done on paper.
After taking these pictures I've since cut holes in the center portion on the front for speakers, cut the t-molding slot and cut a huge access door into the back panel. I'm stuck now waiting on my 12" Round Luminglas BLUE Plasma Glass Disk (
https://www.2shopper.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=MYI141) in the mail so I can cut a circle in the bottom portion of the front before i can finish assembly.
Specs:
AMD Athlon x2 2050e dual-core processor
2GB DDRII Ram
160 Gig HD (for now)
On board Video
Logitec Z2300 speakers
ELO 15'' Touchscreen Moniter
The Frontend for the Jukebox is xlobby 2.0 with a modified Colby2 skin
A compiled version of mame 130 is included to play the touchmaster games all set to freeplay
Also recently learned how to pull flash games out of a firefox browser so i've added a few so far that seem easy to play on a touchscreen.
Only plan on having 2 visible translucent pushbuttons on the front for Esc with and possibly insert for fast forward in mame
Now I have a few questions
1) I'm looking for a few tips on mounting the MB. I've heard that if you don't ground it correctly it can cause a hum to blast out of your speakers. Is there any other potential problems that can arise? Is it really bad to just screw it to the side wall?
2) I plan on pointing the Sub woofer straight down with the Jukebox raised off the ground an inch or so due to the height of the caster wheels. Will this make it sound like crap? is it bad for the speaker? I hope it'll be ok, the sub is huge and I'd pretty much have to start all over as it won't fit any other way as it is.
I will try to keep this posting updated until the project's completion, any comments, criticisms or suggestions are extremely welcome!
Thanks for reading,
Hewskie
Edit: sorry for the poor orientation on the pics, they were taken from my cellphone
