Needing help with repair or replacment happy to pay
« on: August 01, 2009, 02:34:06 pm »
1st off sorry for the cross post also put this in wanted to buy or sell. I have just gotten nice Ms. Pac-man dead display but machine plays takes coins starts and you can hear the machine work when you hit player one or two. :) I would like to hire someone to replace or repair the display. I can provide a good place to work on it in our computer store and will pay fairly. I tried the local tv shops here they do not work on arcade machines but this is a smaller college town . I will if i have to attempt to replace it my self but I am a PC tech and not fond of working on monitors. I am in Boone NC northwest corner of the state near the TN and KY borders about 2 hours from Charlotte. If i can not find a person to do this, does any one have a link to a detailed tutorial on replacing the monitor i have not found any online for MsPacman yet. Thanks Tom

You still not willing to pull the chassis ?

The trouble you will have is finding anyone local to ya.
(I'm damn sure not)

I'm betting it has a K4600 or G07 monitor in it, which are very commonly repaired.
You would have to at least truly identify it. (make/model) That would help as some people are more familiar with certain ones.

If you get to the point you want to replace the display... you may want to try our 19" CGA LCD.

I did a retro for a local here and the mounting was very simple. Turns out if you leave the original monitor brackets in the cabinet they are 3 and 3/4' from the glass.

Perfect size for a 2X4. 2 pcs a few screws and pretty much done.

Other wise good luck!
Always happy to help.., for the best in displays

Happy to take pictures and provide any info on the monitor in there if that helps get a recommendation  on how to replace it . I will not be repairing the display myself. I prefer to pay someone familiar with the display to repair or replace it . What info or pictures would be the most helpful?

A decent pic of the main chassis will probably be enough to generally identify it.
(the bigger circuit board on the monitor frame)

It's an Eletrohome G07-CBO.
Very common monitor.
Worst case scenario..... capacitors, a couple transistors, flyback.

Well now I know what one it is. Now the hard part to find one to buy and someone to install it. If it comes discharged I could do the install I guess not that keen working on the one that's in it. I did post it in the help wanted in the local craigslist maybe I will get lucky and find a unemployed tv repair person :)

If you can remove the chassis from the tube, I can repair it for you.  It's fairly straightforward.

Is it cost effective to ship it to you and back I do see some burn in on it also when it is off? Thanks Tom

I can't fix burn - only a replacement tube will fix that.

I haven't priced shipping a chassis lately, but can get you an estimate if you give me your ZIP code.

Great if someone from Shelby wants to do the job if shipping is prohibitive to SirPeale, I would be more then happy to pay them to come do it.
