New project announcement on Mame box
« on: July 30, 2009, 04:41:24 pm »
Well I wanted to write it here that I got the bug and I need to make a mame box. I am new here so I want to say hi. My goals on this project are to make a box that looks more like a piece of furniture so i can put it in the living room instead of just a traditional look. It is a 4 player box with a 27" monitor. I just got my order for my joysticks from ultimarc and I got 4 - Mag-Stik Plus', and an ipaq4. Next up is to order the buttons and trackball. Below is an example of what i really want mine to look like but with a 4 player control set and hyperspin-fe front end.

Once again thanks for a great forum.

~Curtis~

Status Update: 8-4-09 all buttons ordered for machine.

Nice - you might want to check out Knievel's Woody thread since he is the one who came up with the design (and his looks a thousand times nicer).  I can't believe they are charging $3,000 for that thing!  I'd think about whether you need a 4P machine and a 27" monitor.  It will be a HUGE cabinet if you go that route and probably won't fit into a living room no matter what it looks like.

That'll be a good project. Are you doing a 27" LCD or a 27" tube monitor.

I'd think an LCD is the way to go for something like this, otherwise Javery's right, it'll be a huge cab.

I too think you could likely do better than that cab. Put some cabinet panels on the sides, so trim, something along those lines.

Heck maybe even grab a tambour and make it a rolltop arcade cab!

Good luck!
