Anyone ever paint a guitar?
« on: July 29, 2009, 03:49:34 am »
well, i've got an old telecaster style guitar that i want to give a good paint job or even reshape the body a little bit.
thing is, i'm drawing a blank on the paint, maybe something bright?
does anyone have an idea or two for me?

Megadeth Rust in peace theme? Personally, I prefer cooler colors, so if you could do good artwork for it, I would go with Metallica Ride the Lightning cover art theme, it isn't bright like the aformentioned theme, but would look good. Or were you asking about what kind of paint to use? For that I have no idea...  :dunno
--- Yes I AM doing this on purpose, and yes I DO realize it is pissing you off.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

Have you ever actually painted a guitar? You'd better know what you're doing because it's going to look like total crap if you don't do it EXACTLY right.

A guy I used to work with painted his own, and recommended this website:
http://www.paintyourownguitar.com/

For what it's worth, he said it turned out great.  I never saw it though.

well, i do a lot of painting with spray cans and airbrushes, but I'm not a genius with them.
I think i can do some neat stuff with patterns and the like, but there's no real way i could do rust in peace on this thing.
perhaps a black and yellow swirl?
