Advanced catver.ini
« on: July 27, 2009, 10:38:59 pm »
Is there a more accurate catver.ini file than the one that I have? Maybe it's just my personal preferences, but I would like more distinction between genres. The file I have puts fighting games like King of Fighters in the same category as beat-em-up's like Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. Is there a website that defines the categories? How do I know the difference between shooter/space and shooter/aircraft? Thanks for the help.

It looks like maws has better genre definitions, but is there a way I can get that info in a catver.ini file for Mala?

Maws gets the info from catlist, or from one of the four (?) versions.  Catlist is currently is hosted at http://www.progettoemma.net/?catlist.  Try looking at the deluxe version, I think.

Thanks a lot, Rebel. The catver on that site has shooters split between horizontal/vertical and fighters split between vs/scrolling. That seems the most logical to me, and will help a lot with my game lists.
