PROTECTION MONITOR 50" HELP
« on: July 26, 2009, 01:41:23 pm »
I have a WAVE RUNNER arcade game that has a monitor 50" problem.
When the Main power button is pressed, the LED goes Green and then Red .  I hear the sound of the monitor trying to turn on, but nothing. I hear the 2 relays on the power supply  goes on and then off. The fans work for a moment and then off.The fuses in this monitor look OK i test it.
Pictures of the monitor  is the same like this one  http://www.flickr.com/photos/impulsze/sets/72157600405829679/ .I have replays all the STK IC and a lot  of capacitors.Steel the same.NEED HELP   :dunno

The model appears to be a Mitsubishi VS-50SE1 50P-GHS41 if anyone wants to take a stab at it.
Not sure if the original poster can find an actual chassis number, but that might be helpful in research as well.

I rarely touch a projection set if I can help it.
HV shutdown, convergence IC's, pico fuses blown due to bad convergence IC's, caps,  :P

Not a technician . . . . just a DIY'er.

most projo's have various protection circuits that will activate on a fault . (a service manual would be quite helpful)
a visual inspection is a good beginning . start with the pwr sup. look for domed /leaky 'lytic caps-replace as needed..
same applies to the deflection pcb . also look for burn marks and loose connections .
loss of vert deflection will trigger shutdown. look for poor connections on the vert output ic.
if the HV does come up , the h out xistor is likely ok. however, faulty tuning caps /flyback/HV Distribution block can all
cause shutdown .
convergence failures can cause depending on brand .
i'm not familiar with Mitsu projo's , thus can not give detailed tips.
i'll see if i can find a manual .........  :dunno

good luck

Check the bulb.  TVs and projectors won't keep power if the bulb is blown.   It could also just not be pushed in completely.

no uhp lamp or balast to be found in this one .  ;D

not found a print.  :(     it may be a "proprietary" model ...?

last one of these i had go was a fault on the power supply board, trouble is the fault could be anywhere-what you need is another one of these to swap until you find which of the boards is faulty
the problem i had was a blown voltage reg
