Safe to open cabinet after cracked neck
« on: July 26, 2009, 03:42:51 am »
I swapped a monitor and tube assembly out of an almost identical cabinet and as I was doing up the rear door ready for a test run, the door was not going all the way back , thinking it was just a poor fit until I screwed it the I heard a Cracking sound like glass running and quickly vaccated the room realising I might have cracked the neck of the tube now I dont now what to do or how safe it is to even go near that cabinet anyone know if It would be safe to open it and retrieve the monitor and precious jpac ? I couldnt care less about the tube it had a surface scratch on the face when I got it.

Man I am not having a good day.

Just make sure the power to the cabinet is disconnected.... absolutely sure.

Discharge the tube as usual, but not likely anything there.

Always happy to help.., for the best in displays

If the tube is cracked, there's nothing to discharge.
