For those that haven't yet played this Lucas Arts classic adventure game, or for those that may just want to visit the fond memories of old...

It has been released on Xbox Live Arcade today, with majorly updated graphics and voice acting.

Though I did play many of these adventure games back in the day, this is one that I never actually did play, so I am getting to enjoy this one as brand new. You can instantly toggle between the updated version and the original, and it is really interesting to see just how updated it actually is.

I'd say at 800 points ($10) this one is definitely a must have.

Here is a Gamespot interview that shows the comparisons between the original and updated.

That vid shows an impressive difference, but with its low res and high compression still doesn't do the actual difference justice.

Sweet. I loved this game back in the day. I'm torn between getting it on XBLA or waiting for the rumored iPhone version.

That Gamespot video I posted addresses the new art style among other things.

It isn't just an update to the gfx though. There are some gameplay/control tweaks for a more console controlled experience and it has the Curse of Monkey Island voice actors reprising their roles for this one.

I can see the nostalgia factor leading one to prefer the original style, though I imagine anyone new to the game will have a much more enjoyable time with the update. The good thing is that you can literally switch between the 2 instantly on the fly. You can play the whole game with the new style and toggle to the old for your Elaine oggling.

I just found this the other day. What a blast from the past! I'd love to get an SF Rush machine at some point. We had four of them at 3Dfx back in the day.

I used to hang out with some major hardcore fans of Half-Life. At the peak, I had many GB of HDD space dedicated to keeping copies of HL and gaggles of mods and many burned CD's of archived mods. I'm as old school as they come with Half-Life. If your name appears on the Valve site, the hardcore fans know the name.

I still have my matching pair of Voodoo² cards. Sadly, I lack updated drivers.

I had to put the cards into storage when I got a GeForce3. Despite all the stuff I loved about the pair, the GF3 spanked the SLI V² cards on all the new games. On top of that, the GF3 soaked up so much juice from the poor motherboard, I couldn't keep it and two voodoos powered without having all sorts of problems. So it was either keep the V²'s paired with the TNT or ATI Rage Fury and deal with sluggish performance on the new games or bump it up to the GF3 and drop the V²'s.

Removing the Voodoos was probably one of the hardest decisions I made with any of my computers.

I never had dual Voodoo² cards, but I started out with a single, then upgraded later to the Voodoo³. I guess it's just because those were the first badass 3D cards and because they cost so damn much new (at the time), that it was just hard to let go. 3Dfx really opened up a whole new world to PC gamers, but also did a lot for arcade gaming.

That they did. Damn shame that that what won them so many accolades from gamers is also what killed them off.
