wells gardner 19k7681 problem

hi i have a wells gardner 19k7681 monitor that is bright and the colors are not very sharp and light horizontal lines running across the screen but they stay in one place.i plan on installing a cap kit,will this help with my problem?do i need a new flyback or some rejuvination.also how will i know if a monitor needs to be rejuvinated or not.

On the chassis you'll find the flyback (big and black with a red cable leading to a suction cup on the tube).  One of the dials is for screen and the other is focus.  My guess is that screen is turned up too high, turn that down and then also play with the focus knob to sharpen it up.  Try that and see what you get.

adjusted the focus and brightness but colors on screen are still pretty dimm.it a cap kit recommended

A complete recapping is always recommended if the caps are original.

One last thing to try before you spend the time/money getting a cap kit and doing all the soldering work.  In addition to the pots on the flyback (screen/focus) there's also a bunch on the chassis.  There should be some for brightness/contrast and then on the neck board there should be some for the RGB lines.  Try playing with all those pots and see if that helps things out.  I think the caps *usually* fix problems with distortion and other graphical anomalies..not necessarily color levels.  If those still don't fix it, then yes, a normal k7000 cap kit should cover that chassis.
