Sega Emulator and Set up
« on: July 06, 2009, 10:39:13 pm »
Ok, I have been primarily a Mame guy.  I have recently moved on to Daphne as well and am doing pretty well at that.  My son, however, loves Sega games.

Does anyone have a Sega Emulator for dummies thread or website that will help me set one up to work in Hyperspin.

Specifically, I am looking for help with the following info:
1.  What emulator should I use.
2.  What are the different systems?  What is the difference between Sega CD and Sega Master CD? Where does Sega 32x come in?  From what I have read ont he web, it was an add on to the Sega Master System.
3.  What should the file structure be for the roms?  NOTE - I AM NOT ASKING WHERE TO FIND ROMS or how to get them.  I am merely asking how they should be organizaed sot he emulator can call them correctly.

Thanks in advance for any help.  Hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend!
Dedicated - Working:
Asteroids Deluxe
Firefox
Galaxian
Pacman
Viruta Fighter 2
Zombie Raid
Pool Sharks - Pinball

1. I use KEGA fusion v3.51 (not sure what the latest is) running through Mala
2. I know it emulates alot of the consoles - I have Master System, Genesis, 32x, Game Gear (handheld), SG-1000 and SC-3000 (computer) all working with no problems. I never got the CD one working correctly and never got around to figuring it out but KEGA does emulate it I believe. I have no idea what a Master CD is but 32x was an upgrade to Genesis/Mega Drive but not many games were made, fewer than 10 I think.
3. after setting up KEGA, it uses command line options such as -32x, -gens or -gg to load the different systems, so set them up as different systems in your frontend (hyperspin) with different folders.

due you really only need one emulator, I setup the emulator use for all systems and create subfolders in the rom, snap and eventuality video dir, so you avoid setup the same emulator twice.

There is no Sega Master CD console, but I guess he was meant Sega Master System?

I remember there was no zip support for CD's in the emulator and they require to been formated to ISO to get it working in the emulator and is best to using one folder per game to get working (pretty much like Future Pinball example), which is was that I did to get them working in my own frontend (my home made).
