HELP!! Big problem!
« on: July 06, 2009, 07:32:05 pm »
Hey there guys.  I have a big problem, I hope that someone can help me with.  I live in Japan.  When I moved here I shipped my entire DVD and CD collection here.  (over 4000 DVD's and 2500 CD's.  I then spent the next few years ripping the DVD's to DVIX (I don't like my kids' fingerprints all over MY movies.  Same with the CD's.  Quite a few years ago, I purchased two Tera boxes.  They hold up to 4 HDD in one box.  This is connected to my main PC via USB.  With a total of about 12 terabytes I was pretty happy.  I then networked these together to the remaining PCs in the house.  These extra PCs have touch panel screens next to the TFT televisions so that the kids, mom, and grandma can touch their way to what they want to see.  A couple of days ago, I restarted my main PC and when I got back into XP none of my USB Terabox drives were found by windows.  I went and right clicked on my computer and went to manage the drives.  They were all there but unallocated.  I reallocated them but was shocked to find that windows wanted me to reformat them.  PANIC!!!   I went and found a decent data recovery program and just did a trail run with it.  From what I see it has found all of my movies and music but I am not sure how to procede.  Is there something that I need to do to ensure that I don't lose my data?  Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.  If there is a program that is recommended let me know that as well.  I am wondering if I just lost boot info for these drives or what.

Thanks in advance guys.
