Pac-Man and Popeye Restoration Started
« on: June 28, 2009, 10:29:25 am »
Hello Everyone,

While I continue to work on my Punch-Out!! paint job, I wanted to show you the bargains that I found. Get ready cause this is such steal. I got a Popeye and Pacman cocktail tables for the combined price of $75.00. They both were not working, Pacman screen was all jumbled and the Popeyes' screen was black. I put a cap kit on the Popeye monitor and now it works. Pacman had a reset button on the board, I pressed it and wahlahhh! WORKING PACMAN. Heres a little video for your viewing pleasure :)

Very cool....congrats on the score, now you're really hooked, yes?.

What's even cooler, is that you got a horizontal cocktail and a vertical, which means you could throw a horizontal XXin1 in the Popeye, and a vertical XXin1 in the Pac-man and be in game heaven.

NICE original, working cocktails. No xxx-in-1 please ! :)

Pac has the speed-up hack and monitor needs a bit of degauss.

A _SERIOUS_ steal, congrats !!!!

Agreed.  In the restorations forum, that's akin to swearing, or spitting on the bible or something.

I will not do a multi cab with these. I want to keep them original :) Does anyone know how to undo the speed hack?

You can also get a "cheat" chip that gives normal play, but allows you to push the player 1 button to speed up.  Works nice if you have kids that need some help

EDIT: I have one of these available that I ended up not needing if you are interested.
My current collection:  Arkanoid^3, Asteroids Deluxe, Centipede, Donkey Kong w/DIIK, Frenzy w/Berzerk multi, Galaga, Galaxian, Gyruss, Mappy,  Missile Command, Multi-Williams, O'Boyles Arcade (Mame), Pac-man,  Sinistar, Star Wars, Tempest, War Gods

Spyridon that would be awesome if you could send me that chip. Just tell me what I need to do. Hey would it be blasphemy if I change the cabinet to a Ms. Pacman, with new artwork. I love Pacman but, Ms. Pacman always had my heart.

It would only be blasphemy if you didn't send me the Pac-Man PCBs ;)
Beautiful finds. Incredible deal.
Makes me feel like a newb payin' so much for my first mostly empty cab (although in my Canadian monopoly money it's about the same).
Lookin' for: Neo-Geo MVS x4 board, memory card reader, memory card, credit LEDs
MVS wants: Metal Slug (any), King of Fighters 2002, Puzzle Bobble (any), Rage of the Dragons, SNK vs Capcom, Magical Drop  (any).

I suspect he'll need that.  Converting it to a Ms Pac is a ROM swap.

I bought a pacman pcb off of ebay with the ms. pacman board attached. Does anyone know how to hook it up? Do I just hook it right up (swap it out) or is there anything I should be doing? I dont want to screw anything up :)

I needed a key for both the donkey kong cocktail and Popeye (I only had one for the Popeye and the same key works both) here is how I found it.
http://www.downloadpipe.com/forums/games/Popeye-cocktail-table-latch-ftopict238289.html

Here is the website where you can buy the key
http://www.competitiveproducts.com/list.php?id=224
I am not sure specifically if it is the tubular 7/8" different or tubular 7/8" alike key, so I ordered both. I will let you know which one it is if you are willing to wait for it to get shipped to me.

I got the two different keys and they do not work :( They fit but the grooves in the keys are off from the original. The guy over the phone told me to just order all the same key and replace all the keys on my nintendo cabinets. Currently I only have one key that opens my two Nintendo cocktails and my Punch-Out!! For my three machines I would have to buy six keys at $5 a key and rekey them.

It's pretty much what we do. Buy new locks, keyed alike.
NO MORE!!
