Ultimarc video amplifier problem.
« on: June 26, 2009, 01:06:18 pm »
Hi
The problem is, the higher I set the contrast, the lower is the focus of the screen. It seems like the contrast pot interfere with focus. I am also using ultimarc PSX AV to Arcade Monitor converter which has also built in video amplifier, but it works perfect, even when contrast is set to max. The problem occurs only when connecting pc through video amplifier.
I am using Sanyo tv tube with 8 liners chassis.

So what does it look like without it ?

You don't always need the amplifier.
It may be pumping too much signal into it.
You can also try turning the brightness or screen voltage down on the monitor itself.
You may also need to readjust the color drives on the monitor itself.

Arcade monitors are designed to be setup in relationship to any one particular game.
So it is very common to have to readjust everything a bit form one game board to the next.
In other words..... don't expect to go from one setup to a totally different setup without the need to readjust the monitor itself.
Not a technician . . . . just a DIY'er.

Without amplifier image is dim. I was trying to readjust nearly everything, but nothing helped. I noticed also that when connecting through amplifier the tone of colours vary on what is actually displayed. It is slighly noticable, only on some backgrounds.
