happ comptetition question

Well i set up the joystick but there doesnt seem to be any space for the E clip to connect to the metal rod. I knew i wouldnt be able to explain it well so i took a picture. Am i doing something wrong here?

You need to push it down. There's a spring pushing it up, so you have to push it back. Also, where's the actuator? It should be square.

I tried pushing it down really hard but its not budging and i feel like i might break it lol. btw, I just left the actuator off for the picture.

Are you pushing back against the knob of the stick itself? If not, you'll get nowhere.

Put the square actuator on there and push down on it (the actuator).  It should expose the groove.
