symptom(s) ? i.e. what does it do, or not do

knowing the symptom dictates what section to investigate .
i used to have an employer that would mark symptoms on work orders as " its broke " or " it don't work ".
which told me NOTHING !!! requests or complaints didn't work .
so, i figured two can play that game . so, whenever a such tagged work order came across my bench . no matter what the defect had been , i wrote nothing more than "fixed it "on the invoice .
only took 1 PO'D customer to get him to stop
