Light Guns
« on: July 07, 2003, 04:25:38 pm »
i was just wondering..would a PS2/PSX -> USB Adapter and a PSX/2 Light gun work?
or do i need a special one? also wouldnt it be easy to get one of those Japanese Fighter
Sticks that are not released in the US [since there the only good quality ones] and take
off the casing and use that as your joystick instead of all the hard rewiring stuff and use
joy2key? Anyways just thought that might work for someone that doesnt have alot of
cash. anyways main question is the lightgun im just rambling now..

I don't think there are any PS2 to USB adapters that support light guns.

check out the gun system link

It is the only lightgun worth getting for mame as the rest don't work with it properly.

Make sure you don't buy the old-school GS System. They don't officially sell it anymore, but sometimes they go for sale on others sites or on Ebay.

(I made that mistake...)

You need the TV gun when using a TV (makes sense)

The diffs are:

-Rapid fire on TV gun
-Official 2 player support on TV gun*
-Calibration required only once, unless light gun is re-connected

*Even though it is unofficial the PC monitor one does support 2 players...

You can check out my site, www.lightgun.tk

(If you are buying a Lightgun if you use my links to Act-Labs I get a little commision from them.)

You should know first that they ARE NOT PERFECT! A lot of people get really mad that some games don't work for them... Some games will... some won't... know this before you buy this gun!

I really only have about 11 games in MAME that work 100% PERFECTLY w/ my setup, but this will always differ. You can count on Area 51 which is always nice. You do need to run Analog MAME though so it has a reload hack for it.
