Asteroids Deluxe full size monitor cardboard overlay?
« on: June 15, 2009, 06:56:16 pm »
In a full size AD machine, there is a cardboard piece than slides in and covers the monitor with the blue overlay and has stars painted on the sides which cover the left and right cabinet walls up to the mirror.  Does anyone know where I can buy either NOS or Repro replacements?

You mean like this one?

I would watch ebay for another.  There may be someone reproducing these but I haven't found one yet.  Good luck!

Yea, that's what I'm talking about.  His looks like an original, and the monitor overlay part is missing the blue transparency.

You can buy repros of the blue overlays online. I just got one for my AD that I haven't installed yet. I can dig up he link if you can't find it.

Got the overlay.  I guess I'm still hoping someone will discover some NOS of the full cardboard piece.

Has anyone ever scanned them in at least?  If not, I could probably scan mine in at some point.  I haven't looked at it enough to know what shape it is in, but it looks good from the player perspective.

Wouldn't the 3D-ish components of the cardboard make it a tough? You might have to carefully disassemble and that would be a royal pain in the ass if it was glued together.
