I just downloaded the latest release of MAME.  For some reason, with this version, and previous versions of MAME, the mouse is labeled for the Analog input, but for Inc and Dec, is labeled as left and right, but I cannot change the Inc and Dec to use the mouse.  Older MAME versions would work with the mouse, but lately the past 3 MAME releases will not allow me to use my mouse in the program.

The mouse itself is a Microsoft USB mouse, O/S is XP Pro SP3, Intel Pentium Core 2 Quad 2.8ghz x4 with 4gb ram running on a 320gb hard drive.  Video card is Nvidia Nforce 1gb.  The mouse I have no problems with in any other program and its about 3 months old, the computer is about 2 weeks old.

In your Mame ini file, make sure mouse is set at 1 and not 0.

Well I still have version 0125 of MAME and in that .ini file there isn't a mouse line, the newest version 0132b doesn't even have a .ini file.

I think if you run "mame -cc" from the command line it should create the ini file for you with the new version.

And mame.ini has had a mouse line since it could use mice (before 0.37b13, aka before the official version switched to directX, aka before I started using mame).  Maybe you're looking at a different or incomplete ini file?  Do the same for 0.125; mame -cc to update/fix/complete the mame.ini if it exists (keeping your settings the way you set them), or create mame.ini if it doesn't exist.
