Making TV turn on when I turn on the power
« on: June 11, 2009, 07:07:58 pm »
Ok, I know that there have been threads about bridging the power switch, but the TV I have in there, an apex flat 24 inch doesn't seem to want to do that.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

If your Apex is like most, this should work:

Turn it on.

Turn the volume down to zero.

Hold MUTE on the remote while holding VIDEO on the TV (or MENU if that does nothing).

You should now be in the service menu.

Find OPT.PWR-ON 0 and set it to 1. (EDIT: This is wrong. I'm trying to figure out the right option)

Turn off TV.

Now it should turn on when you give it power.

Hope it works for you. If not, run a google search "Apex model xxxxxxx service mode"

That's the problem.  I don't know what model it is.  I acquired this cabinet and was told it was an apex.  Is there a way to ID it based on the board?  I only have the buttons:

Power
Channel+
Channel-
Volume+
Volume-
Menu

It's got component, svideo, composite, and tuner.  Composite is on the front and back.

Problem is, I'm not sure of the correct option right now. Last night, we had no power for three hours and when I got up, the TV was on when it shouldn't be. I'm looking into it.

As for your model, I have no idea how to find out what it is.

As for the model..... shouldn't there be a label right on the back with all that information?

A little capacitor trick Peale wrote up for PC's could possibly also be applied to TV's.

Now that could be a problem identifying it then.   ???

I've searched, and all I can find is people asking for the code, so I'm not sure you'll be messing with service mode any time soon.

i do have the service manual for this model in pdf

there is nothing in the service menu for what u seek.

found the owners manual , and that has nothing as well.....

however, a simple circuit can be constructed to initiate the tv's pwr on sequence.

pm for more info
