Well crap...

I just screwed up my third attempt at soldering a playstation game controller. Guess I'm gonna buy one online after all. It's not worth this kind of trouble!

damn

i screwed up my first DC hack (and it was one of those MadCatz pads that are meant to be easier...unfortunatly, mine had a totally different PCB layout to the one's i'd seen on the net)

Sounds like you could have gotten an I-Pac or Keywiz cheaper...

IPAC and Keywix don't work on a Playstation, though.

Plus I put them back together and take them back to Walmart and say" it didn't work."  ::)

Two Madcatz playstation controllers I bought were different on the inside, too.

Well I already found a guy that would do it. You sent me a message before him, but you're not in the US, right? I need it by Friday. So I already ordered it from him so I could get it fast.

That might have been me...

Now I think I will get back at GameStop for selling me a flakey DC by buying a controller there and if I screw up... just bring it back...

Maybe not... I have this conscience stuff... Anyone know how to get rid of this crap?

If ya'll do have conscience and do not want to throw them away, I might be able to fix them.  I'm level three certified
(Milspec inspector) and I used to fix playstations (ones) when people jacked them up trying to mod them..

My problem was that the copper solder point lifted off of the circuit board when it got too hot. Happenned a couple times. (Like I said, I really suck at soldering now. Haven't done it in like 6 years.)

That's what happened to 99% of the playstations that I had to fix.

yeap, the traces lift really easily when overheated...

You have to really clean everything well before soldering and tin all connections first (both the wire ends and solder points on the pcb traces). The traces should also be lightly sanded or scraped to remove the coating they put on so the solder will stick. This all helps to minimize the amount of heat you have to apply.
