Just got a Jamma Cab, want to hook a PC up to it
« on: June 10, 2009, 11:23:39 am »
I just got a working arcade cab with a standard 19 inch monitor.  I want to hook up a PC to it but don't have the cash for a JPAC and ARcadVGA combo.  So I want to go the Soft15k route.  I know that the JPAC boosts the signal from a standard VGA card.  Do I need to worry about the Signal boosting of the JPAC, how do you guys hook up your arcade monitors to the PC?

Also what is a good and relativley cheap  Vid Card that works well with Soft 15k?

The JPAC makes hooking up the controls and the video a breeze, IF you already have a JAMMA harness in the cab.  Seriously, there's no better product.  Especially if you have a card that Soft15 supports fully.

Don't make it a GeForce 2MX card though.  Technically supported, but I had a lot of issues.  I swapped.

Cool thanks for the reply.  So you would go JPAC and no ArcadeVGA?  What vid card do you have?  And how do you know that your actually getting 15k from your video card when using Soft 15k?

When the crystal clear picture appears.  :)  Though you might have to do a little bit of adjusting with the monitor controls.

Two different ones have worked for me thus far: an ATI 9800 and a computer with an nForce2 chipset.  The GeForce2MX that I mentioned earlier "kinda" works, but cuts off 1/2 the screen.  I think if I work at it I can get it to work properly, but for now it's okay.

Just ordered a JPAC, bit the bullet.  Hopefully this old Vid card will work with Soft15k,  I also have an ATI X550 on my other rig.  We will see, but you definitely sold me on the JPAC.
