Best Resolution for SF 2?
« on: June 08, 2009, 03:55:16 pm »
I have a WG D9200 and an ArcadeVGA and have been using 392 x 240. It looks pretty good and was just wondering if this is the best resolution to use.

Is there a better built-in resolution for the ArcadeVGA? Or can I use Powestrip to add an even close/better resolution? Just wanted to make sure.

Im not an expert at using the ArcadeVGA and Arcade monitors, but I was under the impression that the idea was to be able to run the games at their native resolution.

You can find a games native resolution from MAWS (I think Mame will know it too)

http://maws.mameworld.info/maws/romset/sf2

Street Fighter 2 appears to be 384x224, which, again Im assuming, would make it the optimal resolution for you to run it at if you are able.

388x244 is the closest ArcadeVGA resolution, but there are significant top/bottom borders. Going with 392x240 actually looks better.

Is 384x224 obtainable via PowerStrip custom resolutions or any other method?

Also note that 384x288 is no good as the refresh rate is too low (~51Hz IIRC). This will mean skipped frames...

Stick with 392x240 :)
