Going rate for Magic the gathering cards?
« on: June 02, 2009, 08:07:48 pm »
was helping my girlfriend clean out the attic, and we came across a bunch card boxes, among the sports cards there is also a box of Magic the gathering cards. The box has been up there at least 5 or 6 years and if need be I can pull some random cards and take pix. All the cards are in mint condition...is there a place to see what they are worth?

anyone looking for a box of 750 or so 6 year old magic cards?

:laugh2:

thanks for your valued input.

If you sell it as a lot you will get jack as Jim pointed out, if you dont know anything about the cards, it could be worthwhile to find someone who does, and see if theres anything valuable in there.

My brother just sold 9 cards (granted, they were all really rare) for $2,500 on eBay.

I know, hence the thread. I'm not looking to make much/any money I just don't want to throw the cards away if someone wants them or if they are worth anything. Actually, I wont be making any money, all the loot goes to my GF bonnie since she found them in her attic.

I was trying to find a list of the more valuable cards so I can see if they are in the box.

clicky

I wish I had a handful of those expensive cards, so I could sell to the complete and utter dumb asses who would pay those prices.

I think if any of you had gotten half a dozen pennies on the dollar private offers from Malenko, you'd find his desire to get top price for attic junk as funny as I did.   ;)

I don't think I ever tried to buy a ---smurfing--- thing from you, so you're off base. I've got lots of feedback from stuff I've bought from others, and I'm for the most part, generally liked on these boards AND not ignored by anyone; can you say the same?

I was asking what they were worth, not trying to sell them for hundreds of dollars. They aren't my cards and its not my attic junk, but I told her I'd see if I could find out if they are worth anything. So thats what I'm doing. I'm sure theres tons of other threads on here you can be a --missioncontrol-- in, so go have at it.

Wait... did your girlfriend have junk in the attic or junk in the trunk?

Gotta have at least a little junk in the trunk, or else what is there to hold onto?

My advice is to check mtg forums for bst topics and see what people are listing as rare.  I'd also check most of the cards for set symbols and then find a list of what the chase cards from each of those sets are.

Just don't throw anything that is considered worthless away.  Even if no one wants them there's always freecycle for the land/mana cards.

On an equally nerdy topic, does anyone still collect star trek cards. I have a pretty hefty collection in my old closet at my parents house.

But everything R@RE on ebay doesn't sell for $900 a piece.

Beta Black Lotuses were rare when I played back in like 1996.  They must just change hands a lot, because there really arent that many out there.
